I made this MATRIX inspired scent as a practice scent to get myself to use combinations I wouldn't normally use.   D.grayi focuses on many vietnamese and asian diaspora experience but sometimes we like to make scents inspired by pop culture.

I have been rewatching the Matrix series lately because of a few reasons:

A family member of mine transitioned a couple years ago and I wanted to rewatch the series with a different lense on.  The original Matrix paints a word that mirrors a trans experience.  The metaphors in the movies are very intricate and also subtle which allowed it to become a favorite movie even outside the LGBT community.

Initially I was going to make a 3 part series, 1 of B1-66ER, another of Red Pill, and another of Blue Pill.  In the first movie the red and blue pill mirrors the medications given to trans individual during the time.   Blue pill is an anti-depressants that was given to some individuals that may have been told they were not trans, instead just have a mental illness.  The red pill would be the one they were given when they are able to transition with the doctor's approval.

The internet back then was a way that qweer people around the world would connect.  We would have a new name and can be ourselves.  The Matrix is a really good watch and a lot of the topics are so relevant right now.

One thing that made me want to make a scent of B166-ER is because that is the robot that really started the war on humans vs AI.  This was featured in the prequel ANIMATRIX... It's an interesting tale because it is the first time me as the viewer would be able to relate to both the AI and the human scenario.

Were the creators showing the complexity between society, government, and indviduals?  Were they wanting to show the feeling of being treated unfairly by the system in a viewpoint of an individual part of a minority?  Are they trying to tell us that the world isnt BLACK and White and instead everything is in the gray and complex?  I'm not sure but I decided to ask an AI to see if they know more about this...  THanks Chat ABC!

I'll post the screenshot of my conversations above.  Anyways I ended up making a scent with their guidance.  I asked what would be a good scent to create for B166-ER.  Here is what I made:
