What is a scent doodle?
It’s a term I made up to describe a perfumer’s equivalent of sketching or playing around with ideas without the pressure of wearability, branding, or cohesion. It is one of the ways I get over creative blocks in perfumery. I like to keep multiple projects in motion at once so I can move on when I get stuck. Scent doodling helps me revisit forgotten materials and experiment outside my usual style. It is also a good way for me to use materials that I will discontinue. Rather than let those materials sit unused, I can transform them into gifts. The scents are created in small batches and not revised which is why I call it a doodle. Some smell exactly like how I imagine while others less so... but I hope you enjoy these either way.
